A SON'S WAR wins at USA Film Fest & California Independent Film Fest

We've had a very exciting last couple weeks as A SON'S WAR has won three awards at two fantastic festivals!

Just this Sunday, we took home the Best Student Film at the Academy-qualifying USA Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend but it is a great fest but you can check out more about it here:

And the week before we won two awards at the California Independent Film Festival in Orinda, CA up in the bay area.  A SON'S WAR won both Best Student Film and Best Cinematography (a testament to our fantastic director of photography, Martin Preiss, as we were competing against features as well) at the fest. It was amazing to be the only film called up to the stage twice at their awards gala.  You can see the awards listing here:

It was a wonderful experience attending!  We screened in the beautiful 1941 art deco theater and I got to meet one of my filmmaking heroes, Saul Zaentz, who has won three Academy Awards for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, AMADEUS, and THE ENGLISH PATIENT.  Stay tuned... I will post photos soon!!!
